Conticross: A Sleek and Tough Work Table

Conticross was born out of the desire to create a tough and good-looking table for a showroom. Instead of opting for a solid-looking base, Anushka Contractor decided to think outside the box and came up with the cross-legged design. This design choice not only adds strength to the table but also provides stability, eliminating the problem of shaky tables.

What sets Conticross apart is its attention to detail and customization options. The finishing materials and color combinations of the top and bottom can be tailored to suit any space, making it a versatile choice for different environments.

The realization of Conticross involves a meticulous process. The base is made of hammered M.S. Section, creating the distinctive bend on each leg. The legs are then welded together, and the base is spray-painted with automotive paint after grinding and smoothing any unevenness caused by the hammering. Additional support is provided by a welded M.S. Section at the intersection point of the table. The top is made of wood, cladded with a black solid acrylic surface on five sides, while the bottom is matt polished. Each leg base has a PVC buffer to prevent scratches on floors during movement.

Conticross can be used as a work table, display table, or even a dining table. It was originally created for a furnishings showroom in Pune, India, where it serves as a platform to showcase fabric and wallpaper catalogs. Its durability and ability to bear heavy weights make it suitable for rough use, ensuring it can withstand accidental impacts.

Recognized for its exceptional design, Conticross was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2014.
